Welcome
To take full advantage of this site and what Naturopathic and Homeopathic Medicine have to offer, you need to align yourself with a model of disease that is not focused on 'germs'. The following story describes that model.
You’re driving down a highway and see a dark mass on the shoulder. You stop to investigate. It’s a huge pile of maggots doing their maggot business on a deer. You might say to yourself "Those maggots are killing the deer. We must prevent this in future by controlling maggots." Or, because you know a few things about maggots and flies you might say "Flies swarmed and disabled this deer to lay their eggs which have hatched into these maggots. So to prevent flies from killing deer we should control flies or make deer immune to fly attacks." Or, because you know a few things about roads and motor vehicles you might say "The maggots and flies are not the cause. A vehicle hit this deer. To prevent this we should control access to this road with high fences, or close the road." But on further reflection you might also say "What factors contributed to bringing this deer out of its habitat to a place where it was vulnerable?"
When you are ill, your first thought might be to control the bacteria. Ok but like the flies or maggots in the story, you might not get to the underlying issue - how you came out of your healthy state.
Disease is a reflection of a number of broad imbalances. To truly improve health over the long term you should take this into account. This takes time, and commitment, and most of all it requires that you pay attention to all the different parts of you. Working with a naturopath you will truly discover your own healing capabilities. And for many people it is an ability that must be experienced to be believed.
Your health is really about choices: as a sickly little victim lying on the side of the road with a can of fly-spray, or as an empowered problem solving adult residing in a sun dappled meadow smelling the flowers. |
